Project Records Manager

Position Overview
The Department of Archives and Records of the Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle is responsible for the management and preservation of all records of the Archdiocese and its agencies. As the first stage in establishing comprehensive control over records, we are seeking a part time records manager on a project basis to conduct a survey of Chancery records. Project funding is for one year at 25 hours per week.

Essential Duties
• Conduct interviews with heads of departments and appropriate staff members to ascertain the functions, activities, and transactions carried out within the Chancery and the records resulting from these
• Maintain project notes relating to possible retention and security/confidentiality of record series
• Prepare information map indicating what classes of records are held by the Archdiocese of Seattle, as well as the physical location of these records

Essential Qualifications
• Master of archival or information studies or equivalent certification
• At least 1 year similar experience
• Understanding of basic records management principles and of the management of corporate records as legal evidence
• Understanding of issues surrounding the management of electronic records
• Strong organization and project management skills
• Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
