It will be to the applicant's advantage to submit materials as soon as possible.Reporting to the Information Governance Manager, the Records Management Officer (Program Specialist 5) serves as the agency expert to lead, research, analyze and continue to develop the agency-wide records and information management functions.
This position will implement innovative means to protect, preserve and properly retain and dispose agency records.

Information Governance Office Introduction:
Through effective records management, this position supports the agency by managing efforts to help Revenue employees organize, store, retrieve and maintain records throughout their life cycle as needed to support agency programs and business operations.
As the Records Management Officer your responsibilities will include:
This position leads the agency in developing standards and protocols for managing records and establishing consistent processes. Duties will include managing selection and implementation of electronic content management or other technical systems to categorize, classify, index, migrate, and apply retention principles to agency records, particularly those in electronic format. In addition to continuously analyzing and implementing changes in retention and records management to meet state and federal requirements, this person should be motivated by challenges to develop and apply standards to organize and promote defensible and sustainable structures and innovative practices for records retention and information governance.
The position exercises initiative and applies expertise and judgment to make decisions and provides advice and consultation to manage records both inside the agency and with outside organizations to include the Secretary of State Archives Division and the Office of the Attorney General. Responsibilities include:
- Strategically plans, develops, and leads coordinated agency initiatives and projects to improve agency records management processes and data governance, including consideration of the use of electronic content management, SharePoint, or other tools to systematically organize and manage records
- Develops, oversees, and implements training and coordination of agency staff to achieve compliance on records management principles and practices, serving as the Agency Records Officer under RCW 40.14.040
- Analyzes and applies security data classification standards to records and data and assists in categorizing and safeguarding confidential information

A Bachelor's degree with major study in business administration or related field,
AND
Four (4) years experience managing, developing, and implementing standards, policy, and procedures related to records and information management, and interpreting and applying governing laws and rules.
- Ability to understand operational characteristics of a variety of computer and network systems, application architecture, software and peripheral equipment, including enterprise-wide system applications and electronic content management tools
- Effective communication techniques and presentation skills to ensure staff is kept abreast of basic and evolving records management requirements and practices
- Strong planning and organizational skills and application of critical thinking to identify and solve issues
- Application of project management techniques and principles
Desired Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience
- ICRM Certified (The Institute of Certified Records Managers)
