Snohomish County Temporary Position half time six months


Snohomish County Planning and Development Services (PDS) department is seeking a person skilled with records management experience for a complex project. The person will be required to be familiar with the Snohomish County’s responsibilities for records management under the state Public Records Act, and the state Records Retention schedule. The assignment is half-time for up to six months. The person that is hired for this temporary assignment will undertake these key duties:

1. Develop an organizational system that is user-friendly that County staff can use for storage, destruction and indexing of electronic records associated with the development of the Snohomish County Growth Management Act 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update (2015 Plan Update). The system must be designed so that it is consistent with and facilitates implementation of the state Records Retention Schedule. Additionally the system must be designed to facilitate review and retrieval of records that may be requested pursuant to the state Public Records Act (RCW 42.56). The system will need to be compliant with any relevant County procedures and protocols and documents will likely be developed and stored on Microsoft Office and SharePoint sites, as well as externally managed websites.

2. Develop a system that is user-friendly that County staff can use for storage, destruction and indexing of paper records associated with the development of the 2015 Plan Update. The system must be designed so that it is consistent with and facilitates implementation of the state Records Retention Schedule. Additionally the system must be designed to facilitate review and retrieval of records that may be requested pursuant to the state Public Records Act (RCW 42.56)

3. Develop written procedures for managing, storing and destruction of electronic and paper records associated with the development of the 2015 Plan Update that is consistent with the Public Records Act, the state Records Retention Schedule and any relevant County procedures and protocols.

4. Provide training to project staff on records management and act as the primary resource for questions that arise on records management by project staff.

5. Coordinate with PDS records management staff, records management staff in other departments and County agencies.

6. Maintain the systems for records management for the project. This will require reviewing and indexing records, and destroying records consistent with the state Records Retention Schedule.

7. Serve as a member of the 2015 Plan Update Project Management team, receiving day-to-day direction from the project manager for the 2015 Plan Update.

The salary range for a full-time PDS Records Specialist is Salary Range: $49, 162.92 - $59,704.56 (Position is half time.)
